A cycling experience in an unknown switzerland

Switzerland is famous for the beauty of its alpine landscapes. Every year, the Tour de Suisse honors the legendary passes that have made this country famous for centuries such as Col de la Furka or Col du Saint Gotthard… But other equally surprising passes remain secret : Col du Grand Saint Bernard, Col du Sanetsch, Col de la Croix, Col du Pillon.
It is in the heart of French-speaking part of the country that we take you on this bike tour, close to the vineyards of the Valais and the Pays de Vaud.

Every day we ride through scenic roads: snowy summits, glaciers, high altitude lakes, mountain pasture. In the guided version of our tour we have included the Glacier 3000 experience: the only suspension bridge in the world (3000m altitude) that connects two peaks and offers a grandiose view of the Alps: the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau are the most famous visible peaks, as well as the possibility to have a walk on the glacier.

Switzerland is also home to the world headquarters of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in Aigle. We will take advantage of this opportunity to visit the facilities of this place which has seen the passage of great names in cycling.

Welcome to LAVEY-MORCLES

We will meet you at Geneva airport at 2 pm before taking you to your hotel in the Swiss Rhone Valley. We take advantage of this first day to adjust your bikes and present the tour.

LAVEY-MORCLES TO Col du grand saint bernard

From our hotel, a few kilometers of flat land in the Rhone valley allow us to warm up to Martigny. From there, the road leads us to the ascent to the Champex pass starts (1500m), a postcard landscape. Located on the shores of the Champex lake, nestled between the peaks in the heart of the Valais Alps, the village of Champex-Lac welcomes us for a well-deserved break. After a few kilometers of descents, the Grand Saint Bernard pass (2473m), the 3rd highest road pass in Switzerland, makes its appearance. Initially named the Col du Mont-Joux, it was named Saint-Bernard in the XIth century in homage to Bernard de Menthon, a man of the church and founder of the Hospice du Grand Saint-Bernard, which provides a welcome and rescue service for travelers who are victims of robbery.

LAVEY-MORCLES to CoL DU PILLON

A few kilometers after leaving our hotel we arrive at the headquarters of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in Aigle. Visit the facilities: the velodrome & museum exhibiting the bikes that made cycling history. We ride through Aigle and its castle surrounded by vineyards. We take the direction of Villars-sur-Ollon, a typical village located in the ascent of the Col de la Croix (1778m).The ascent offers us an exceptional view of the massif and the Diablerets glacier. A short descent leads us to the resort of Les Diablerets before leading us to the Col du Pillon (1546m) and sliding down to the Rhone valley. For the guided tour, the bike itinerary ends at the Col du Pillon but continues by cable car. Dress warmly, you are going to live the Glacier 3000 experience.

LAVEY-MORCLES to COL DU SANTESCH

This ascent is considered as one of the most beautiful and demanding in the Valais.
From the hotel we follow the Rhône river in the direction of Martigny and then Sion. The route takes us through vineyards before leading us through narrow gorges and then on a shady road lined with coniferous forests. The cliffs and waterfalls give way to a passage through a tunnel dug in the rock, then to alpine pastures to finally lead us to the Sanetsch pass (2252m), facing the Tsanfleuron glacier.
