A bike trip in Alsace is a deep cultural experience. You ride your bicycle from Strasbourg to Colmar, throughout a region that proudly reveals its medieval castles, Renaissance houses and the flowered alleys of its charming villages. It is also the most flowery region in France. The Alsace Wine Route is the most famous wine route in France. Known for its remarkable itinerary, Alsace is a land of tradition and wine, offering a unique cycling adventure. It winds through sloping valleys along the foothills of the Vosges.
We will meet you at the Basel airport at a predetermined time before transferring you to your hotel in Strasbourg. In the afternoon we will take the opportunity to introduce you to the program and adjust your bike. In the late afternoon we visit the historical heart of Strasbourg, its Gothic cathedral and La Petite France

The change of scenery is on the agenda of this bike ride. From Strasbourg, we follow the Canal de la Buche before reaching the first vineyards which will lead us along pleasant cycle paths to Obernai. This village is an essential stopover on the Alsace Wine Route because of its particular charm, which emanates from its Medieval and Renaissance centre.

For this second ride, we can bike directly to Ribeauvillé by following the Alsace Wine Route and its vineyards that are becoming more and more present as we progress in the foothills of the Vosges. We can also make a detour and discover in the middle of the forest, the holiness of the Mont Saint-Odile, a source of inspiration for the devotees. Tonight and tomorrow we will spend the night in Ribeauvillé, ideally located in the heart of the vineyards.

This morning we tackle the slopes of the Chateau du Haut-Koenigsbourg. This surprising stone vessel dominates the immense horizon from the top of its 750 m of altitude and made it possible to monitor all the roads crossing Alsace. And to recover from our emotions, we stop at the Cave de Ribeauvillé where take the time to taste and appreciate the finesse and elegance of Alsace wines: Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer… In short, you have understood,that the hotel being not very far away is quite fortunate !

Today, you will sail through an ocean of vineyards and through some of France’s most beautiful villages such as Kaysersberg and Riquewihr. These magnificent villages have for centuries combined the finesse of their architecture with that of their world-famous wines. Riquewihr, one of the most appreciated places in Alsace, is an “open-air museum” that has managed to preserve its authenticity, behind its surrounding walls that only vines nowadays besiege.

Whether you visit Colmar on foot or by boat on the canals of the “Little Venice”, its fountains, its half-timbered houses, its geranium balconies are as many testimonies of its belonging to Alsace… But Colmar is not just about its postcard decor. A cultural centre and a gastronomic stopover, it is also a good starting point for cycling to conquer Eguisheim and its “Three Castles”! Located on a hill overlooking the Colmar region, the ruins of the Three Castles are part of the symbols of Alsace. We will finish this loop with a stop in Eguisheim, a medieval village surrounded by vineyards and nestled in a green setting.
