France is the country that counts among the most famous climbs in the world and every year the Tour de France highlights them. But there are other more discreet passes, less frequented roads… This trip has been created to allow you to discover and measure yourself against them. All of them are over 2000m high and will be able to push you into your own corners: col Agnel (2744m), col de la Bonette (2715m), col de la Cayolle (2326m), col d’Allos (2250m). Thanks to the simplicity of use of the biking GPS, which we include, you can enjoy your day the way you want. We suggest places for lunch and dinner as well as the activities not to be missed on the itinerary we have created.

A support vehicle (van) and its driver-guide will accompany you. It will pick you up on the first day at the meeting place and drop you off at the end of your stay. At each stage, he transfers your luggage. For more security and comfort, the van is at your disposal for the duration of your trip. It will stay nearby to provide you with supplies, to solve any mechanical problems or to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in case of fatigue or capricious weather. Finally, since we choose to offer you the most beautiful itineraries, it sometimes requires a transfer to make the junction between two stages.

    Welcome to THE SECRET FRENCH ALPS

    We will meet you at Grenoble TGV train station at 11 am before taking you to your hotel in Barcelonnette. We take advantage of this first day to adjust your bikes, present the tour and explore the city.

    BARCELONNETTE LOOP 

    A few kilometers after leaving the hotel, the first ramps of the col de la Cayolle (2326m) appear. Opened at the end of the 19th century by the army, the road to La Cayolle offers passages carved into the rock. If you choose the longest option, the Col d’Allos (2250m) will be on your route.

    After a few kilometers of warm-up we head towards the col de la Bonette (2715m). The 24 kms of ascent leads us to an exceptional point of view over Provence and nearby Italy.

    VARS > COL AGNEL 

    Col Agnel / Colle dell’Agnello (2744m) marks the border between France and Italy, its isolation contributes to the fact that it is little known to the general public. The fact that it is a cross-border pass explains why the Tour de France or the Giro only rarely crosses it. It was in the downhill on the French side that Steven Kruijswijk crashed in the 2016 Giro and lost his pink jersey.
