Welcome to LA CLUSAZ

We will meet you at Geneva Airport at 11 am, before taking you to your hotel in the heart of the Alps in La Clusaz. We take advantage of this first day to adjust your bikes, discuss the stay and explore the village of La Clusaz.

LA CLUSAZ – BOURG SAINT MAURICE

This first ride takes us on the itinerary of stage 9 of the Tour de France. On the program, the Col des Saisies and the ascent of the Cormet de Roselend.
A long version including the Aravis pass is also available for the most avid among you. After the ride a  transfer by van is organized to take you to your hotel in Val Cenis.

VAL CENIS – GALIBIER PASS

From the hotel we descend into the valley in the direction of Saint Michel de Maurienne and the first ramps of a legend of the Tour de France, the Col du Galibier 2642m altitude.
After crossing the Col du Télégraphe and the magnificent village of Valloire, the slope gets steeper until the summit. From there, a panoramic view offers itself to you, allowing you to see the Mont Blanc on one side, the glaciers and eternal snows of the Écrins massif on the other.

MODANE – ISERAN PASS & tour de france

Today you climb the Iseran pass which culminates at an altitude of 2770m. First road pass of the French Alps by its altitude, it is the highest road mountain pass of all the Alps. Weather conditions are often capricious, even in summer! During the 2019 edition of the Tour de France, it was on the descent to Val d’Isère that the race organization had neutralized the stage due to a mud slide. After passing the pass, the road will lead you to the Tignes dam. From there, we will be in the ascent a few kilometers from the finish to witness the passage of the biggest race in the world: the Tour de France.

TRANSFER TO AVIGNON

No riding today but an exciting program ahead. We leave the Alps this morning. On our way to Avignon we stop at Châteauneuf du Pape to enjoy a wine tasting and discover this protected designation of origin wine. Upon our arrival, you will have the opportunity to discover the historical heritage of Avignon, starting with the Palace of the Popes.

GORDES – Mont Ventoux – BÉDOIN

We start the ride from Gordes, a wonderful village perched on its cliff before to reach the Sénanque Abbey. From there, the ride lead us to the Ventoux!
Le Mont Ventoux, that’s why you came here. It is here that the Tour de France wrote its legend, it is the mythical summit that every cyclist dreams of conquering, like Bobet or Pantani.
The ascent of Mont Ventoux from Bédoin is by far the most difficult, the most famous too. These are 21 kilometres of ascent, 1600 metres of altitude difference, an average slope of 7.5% (8.9% since the turn of St Estève), slopes reaching 11.5% and almost no opportunity for respite.
On the way back, we slide on the slopes of the Giant of Provence in the direction of Malaucène then Bédoin.

VILLEs sur auzon – chalet reynard (ventoux) & TOUR DE FRANCE

Today you ride along the Gorges de la Nesque, the road winds by the cliffs above a wonderful canyon before to reach Sault. This village is one of the three starting points to reach the summit of the Mont Ventoux. From there we continue to the Chalet Reynard in order to see the riders climbing the Ventoux during this legendary stage of Tour de France.

Tour de France & END OF TOUR

Today you are attending the start of stage 11 of the Tour de France in St Paul Trois Châteaux. Then it will be time to take you back to Lyon airport, unless you wish to extend your stay in the Pyrenees to continue following the Tour de France with Veymont Travel.
