Welcome to the French Pyrenees

We will meet you at Toulouse Airport at 2 pm, before taking you to your hotel in the heart of the French Pyrenees. We take advantage of this first day to adjust your bikes, discuss the stay and enjoy the spa.

Col d’Azet & COL DE PORTET

This first ride takes us on the final part of stage 17 of the 2021 Tour de France, two days before the peloton.  First let’s challenge the Col d’Azet (7.5km at 8.3% / alt. 1580m) linking Loudenvielle and Saint-Lary. Then let’s face the the Col de Portet (16km at 8.7% / alt. 2215m) and its 1400m of elevation gain. It is the highest pass in the French Pyrenees crossed by the Tour de France. Enjoy exceptional view of the Pyrenees National Park at the top, where Nairo  Quintana got a solo win in 2018.

Col du Tourmalet & Luz-Ardiden

Today we ride the final of stage 18 of the Tour de France 2021, one more time two days before the pros. Col du Tourmalet (16.5km at 7.5% / alt.2115m) is the most used climb in the Tour de France. 2020 will be the 88th time it has been used. It is in 1913 in Sainte-Marie-de-Campan, at the foot of the Tourmalet that Eugene Christophe somehow managed to fix his broken fork. After a long descent towards, the ascent of Luz-Ardiden (14.7 km at 6.9% / alt.1720m) and its wonderful switchbacks awaits for us. In 2011, Thomas Voeckler gave it all to save his yellow jersey, superbly lead by his teammate Pierre Rolland.

CapE Long Lake & TOUR DE FRANCE RACE Viewing

Cape Long lake (22.6km at 5.9% / alt.2160m), inside the Natural Reserve of Neouvielle, is waiting for us this morning. The road leading to the lake is a pure jewel. And the view from the lake is speechless. Stage 17 of the Tour de France is in town this afternoon. We won’t miss it.

Col d’Aspin, Col de la Hourquette d’Ancizan & TOUR DE FRANCE Race viewing

We head to the Tourmalet today to watch stage 18 of the Tour de France. On our way stands the famous Col d’Aspin (12km at 6.5% / alt. 1489m) and the mysterious but breathtaking Col de la Hourquette d’Ancizan (22.6 km at 4% / alt. 1564m). Its green and open landscapes are a must see.

TOUR DE FRANCE RACE VIEWING & Transfer to Bordeaux

No riding today but an exciting program ahead. We leave the Pyrenees this morning. On our way to Bordeaux we stop at Mourenx, near Pau, to live the start of Stage 19 of the Tour de France. It is at the start of the stages that the riders have the most time to give to the public: at the foot of the team buses, you can admire the equipment and even exchange a few words, take a picture or ask your favourite rider for an autograph. Bordeaux, that fully merits its place on any list of must-see cities, is impressively chic, peaceful and festive.

BORDEAUX – SAINT-EMILION &  TOUR DE FRANCE RACE VIEWING

Stage 20 of the Tour de France 2021 delivers its verdict today in Saint-Emilion, the world famous village surrounded by first-class vineyards. We bike from Bordeaux to Saint-Emilion for a very pleasant and exciting ride to enjoy the time trial battle between the GC contenders.

RIDE TO THE MEDOC Through BORDEAUX FINEST WINE HOUSEs

On our last ride we explore the world famous vineyards of Bordeaux: we bike through Chateau Margaux, Pauillac and up to Saint-Estèphe along the Gironde estuary.

END OF TOUR

We will take you back to Bordeaux airport after breakfast.
