The Tour of Flanders is the most anticipated race of the year in Belgium. The repetition of the climbs of its cobbled mounts: Kapelmuur, Oude Kwaremont, Paterberg, Koppenberg, an often capricious weather and a popular fervour have made its legend. Veymont invites you to experience a unique cycling holidays in Flanders through the exploration of this iconic cycling region, the Tour of Flanders Sportive and the race viewing in Antwerp for the Grand Depart and in the Oude Kwaremont (3 times) during  the race ! We are based in Gent. This splendid city is rich in a multitude of urban landscapes, from the quays of the medieval port to the massive silhouette of the fortress of the Counts of Flanders, as well as its museums, medieval squares and art nouveau buildings.

    Welcome to Flanders

    We welcome you at Lille Europe Train Station at 2 pm and drive you at your hotel in Gent where we’ll stay for four nights. After a bike fitting and a tour orientation, we explore this splendid city settled around the Lys river and its historical heart dominated by three majestic Gothic towers. Rich in a multitude of urban landscapes, from the quays of the medieval port to the massive silhouette of the fortress of the Counts of Flanders, as well as its museums, medieval squares and art nouveau buildings. As you will have understood, we did not choose to settle our Tour of Flanders basecamp in Gent at random.

    Oudenaarde – Kapelmuur

    In order to enjoy Flanders unique atmosphere, we have planned today a leisurely ride from Oudenaarde to a mythical place: the Grammont Wall or Kapelmuur (1.2 km of cobbles at 7.8% with very steep sections) dominated on top by a picturesque chapel. Before the ride, let’s explore the very interesting Centrum Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders museum) as we follow the heroic achievements of Johan Museeuw, Tom Boonen, Peter Sagan and Philippe Gilbert. The place is a must. You can even find café coming with UCI rainbow colours !

    We’ll end the ride by a round of Belgian beers before returning to our hotel in the magnigicent city of Gent.

    TOUR OF FLANDERS SPORTIVE

    Today you ride the route of Tour of Flanders cycling’s legendary Spring Classic one day before the pros.  You are a real Flandrien and ride with people from all over the world, as there is about 16,000 cycling enthusiats attending the event. It’s up to you to choose between the 75 km or 140 km route.. You’ll start and end in Oudenaarde. Along the way you will face the Oude Kwaremont, Koppenberg, Taaienberg, cobblestones and narrow roads as the pros in their search for eternal glory.

    There are feed stations roughly every 30km along the route, stocked with energy bars, waffles and fruit. On our guided tour, our cycling guide will ride the event as well and support you all day.

    TOUR OF FLANDERS RACE Viewing

    This morning we head off early to Antwerp to experience Tour of Flanders Pro Race’s start. You’ll be amazed by the warm atmosphere, in the Grote Markt at the foot of Antwerp’s City Hall and Cathedral. In the meantime, you can inspect the shiny bicycles and the legs of the race favourites from just a few metres away. Then we drive you to a nice spot near the Oude Kwaremont where you can view the race not once, not twice, not three but four times in a few hours (Female race x 1 and Male race x3). An entertaining day until the end of the race and an experience you don’t want to miss. (Oude Kwaremont VIP stands might also be available with supplement. Contact us for more details.)

    We will take you back to Lille Europe Train Station after breakfast to end this Tour of Flanders holiday unless you want to extend your sping classics cycling trip and experience Paris-Roubaix with Veymont.
