Ride through the south of Germany in a region with beautiful landscapes and traditions: Bavaria .

Bavaria is a place that lives up to the promise of its clichés. Fairy tale castles, dark forests, crystal clear lakes in the heart of the Alps, bulbous church towers and frescoes that light up the walls of the villages.

Day 1 : Welcome to Bavaria

We will meet you at the Munich airport at a predetermined time before transferring you to your hotel in Salzburg, Austria. In the afternoon we will take the opportunity to introduce you to the program and adjust your bike. We take advantage of the evening to discover the city of Mozart.

Meals: Dinner

Accomodation: Boutique Hotel & Spa Auersperg 4* – Salzburg

From the beautiful Salzburg, we set off in the direction of the German border, which is only a few kilometers away. Very quickly the countryside, then the alpine landscapes make their appearance. We follow an ice-blue stream before climbing up into the heart of the Bavarian Alps before descending to Berchstesgaden where we spend the night. Let us remember that it is here that some of the darkest decisions of the Second World War were made.

Upper Bavaria offers many high altitude lakes, often with crystal clear water. Further on we pass through Ruhpolding, the village which gave its name to a biathlon world cup race. Tonight we spend the night in the small town of Reit im Winkl, in the heart of the Alps!

This morning we leave the eastern part of Bavaria, after breakfast we transfer you to the famous alpine resort of Garmish-Partenkirchen, located at the foot of the Zugspitze (2962m), Germany’s highest peak. Its historical heart is pleasant and richly decorated, the ideal place to enjoy a coffee with a slice of Apfelstrudel. There are two routes that we can ride today, but one thing is for sure, we will arrive in Ettal. At the end of the day, or tomorrow morning before we leave, we will visit the Ettal Abbey, unless your choice is the Linderhof Castle a few kilometers away.

Meals: Breakfast · Picnic / Lunch · Dinner

Route: Option 1 : 35 km / 450 m Elevation Gain – Option 2 : 55 km / 800 m Elevation Gain

Accomodation: Kloster Hotel & Spa 4* – Ettal

Just after leaving Ettal, we pass through the pretty little town of Oberammergau. Its charm is due to the traditional Bavarian architecture and the pictorial works on the facades of many houses: the “Lüftlmalerei” techniques. The town is a real work of art representing the strength of baroque and rococo art in Bavaria. Then we move away from the Alps to discover a more rural landscape punctuated by wooden huts and soft green meadows. Soon the silhouette of Neuschwanstein Castle comes into view.

Meals: Breakfast · Picnic / Lunch · Dinner

Route: 60 km / 500 m Elevation Gain

Accomodation: Hotel & Spa Das Rübezahl 4* – Schwangau

Today we visit the castle of Neuschwanstein, one of the most famous monuments in Germany. King Ludwig II of Bavaria planned this fairy-tale himself, with the help of a stage designer rather than an architect. He envisioned it as a giant stage on which to recreate the world of Germanic mythology, inspired by the operatic works of his friend Richard Wagner. Built on a rocky spur as a romantic medieval castle, work started in 1869. We take advantage of the afternoon to cross the Austrian border for a last alpine ride. Unless you prefer to stroll through the streets of the small medieval town of Füssen.
