Perfect roads, authentic landscapes: Switzerland is a paradise for road bike lovers.

Explore the secret routes, the unknown passes in the heart of the Swiss Alps, they will make you count Switzerland as a major cycling destination.

Day 1 : Welcome to Switzerland

We will meet you at the Geneva airport at 1pm before transferring you to your hotel in Aigle. In the afternoon we will take the opportunity to introduce you to the program and adjust your bike.

Accomodation: VIU Hotel 4* – Villars-sur-Ollon

Today we go down to the Rhone valley in the direction of Martigny. The route takes us through vineyards before leading us in narrow gorges and then on a shady road lined with coniferous forests. The cliffs and waterfalls give way to a passage through a tunnel dug in the rock, then to alpine pastures to finally lead us to the Sanetsch pass (2252m), facing the Zanfleuron glacier. This ascent is considered as one of the most beautiful and demanding in the Valais. during the transfer back to the hotel, we take the opportunity to stop in Aigle and visit  the headquarters of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Visit the facilities: the velodrome & museum exhibiting the bikes that made cycling history.

Route: 90 km / 2300 m Elevation Gain

La Croix pass, the first difficulty of the day, offers a magnificent view of the surrounding glaciers. The route continues towards the village of Gstaad, a popular destination for celebrities from all over the world. The vast open landscape of the Saanenland region with its many soft green alpine pastures perfectly reflects the postcard image of Switzerland. Tonight you will spend the night in Thun, overlooked by its castle, the town offers a superb view of the lake and the imposing Bernese Alps in the background.

Route: 70 km / 2100 m Elevation Gain

Accomodation:  Schloss Schadau 3* – Thun

On the first part of the stage we pass along the beautiful blue waters of Lakes Thun and Brienz. After crossing Meiringen, the road goes up, you are on the first ramps of the Grosse Scheidegg, one of the most beautiful passes in Europe. Still unknown, it offers magnificent landscapes on a road closed to cars. Enjoy the view on the north face of the Eiger before going down to Grindelwald.

Route: Option 1 : 85 km / 1800 m Elevation Gain – Option 2 : 95 km / 2300 m Elevation Gain

Accomodation: Grandhotel Giessbach 4* – Brienz

We leave the shores of Lake Brienz in the direction of the Grimsel Pass, but it’s the Susten Pass that you’ll be facing today, the landscape is open, grandiose. The glaciers get closer and closer as you climb. The descent to Andermatt is just as pleasant. For the more adventurous, the Oberalp pass will conclude the day.

The queen stage of your stay takes place today.
After a few kilometers you will reach the Furka Pass, the most famous climb in Switzerland together with the Gotthard. Shortly after reaching the summit, the famous hotel Belvedere, now abandoned, appears on the descent. It appears in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger”. The proximity of the Rhone glacier and the panoramic view over the valley and the laces leading to the Grimsel pass invite you to stop and take a picture. The descent continues, the most daring can test the Grimsel on its southern side before descending again and continuing to the Nufenen Pass. The summit marks the linguistic border with Italian-speaking Switzerland. The long descent (20 kms) to the foot of the Saint Gotthard will allow you to recover before the last climb of the day and its 5 kms paved section.
