A JOURNEY BACK IN TIME THROUGH THE WONDERS OF NATURE IN ARDÈCHE. 

Get on your bicyle and explore the Ardeche, an area full of unique sites, bush roads and remarkable treasures. The Pont d’Arc, a natural arch of 60 meters high, is the starting point of the famous Ardeche gorges. This protected natural area also boasts the title of “Cradle of Humanity” with the UNESCO inscription of the cave adorned with the Pont d’Arc, known as the Chauvet cave, which overlooks the gorges. Unique in the world, the replica of the cave offers you a moving approach through a restitution of paintings dating back more than 36,000 years. You will also explore the mystic Paiolive Wood on the way to the the Aven d’Orgnac, a strikingly beautiful abyss with a wide variety of concretions and enjoy the site for an exceptionnal wine tasting. Last but not least, the villages of Ardeche, scattered throughout the valleys of the territory will make you fall in love with their medieval castles, heart & soul.

Day 1 : Welcome to Ardèche

We will meet you at the Avignon TGV station at a predetermined time before transferring you to your hotel in Vagnas. In the afternoon we will take the opportunity to introduce you to the program, adjust your bike and enjoy the hotel in a unique environment with view.

Today we ride to two of the most beautiful villages in France along the Ardèche river and its beautiful bicycle route. In an amphitheater at the foot of a cliff, Vogüé has its feet in the water while the village of Balazuc dominates the Ardèche river from a vertiginous limestone cliff.

We first cross one of the strangest curiosities of the Ardèche the wood of Païolive a real natural labyrinth overhanging the Chassezac river. Then, after crossing the beautiful village of Banne, we will reach the Aven d’Orgnac. This dark abyss, reveals a magnificent network of rooms decorated with a wide variety of columns, stalactites, stalagmites and draperies. Enjoy the private visit & wine tasting!

This morning a short transfer lead us to the Chauvet Cave for a private visit. 36.000 years ago, the first artists in the history of humanity created a masterpiece in the depths of a cave. The Grotte Chauvet 2 faithfully replicates the UNESCO listed paintings of the Chauvet – Pont-d’Arc cave. We then ride towards the famous Pont d’Arc, and the Ardeche gorges. Most of the gorges were set up as a nature reserve in 1980. The panoramic route boldly laid out on the left bank of the river rushes up to the corniche and its numerous belvederes reveal breathtaking panoramas!
