BIKe itinerary

Welcome to Provence

We will meet you at Marseille Airport at 2 pm before taking you to your hotel in Saint-Remy-de-Provence. We take advantage of this first day to adjust our bikes, discuss the stay and explore the beauty of this village, which smells of Provence: café terraces caressed by the sun, a network of alleys leading to squares decorated with fountains,.. not to mention the Roman ruins, nestled at the foot of the limestone hills, witnesses of a rich past. This painting does not fail to seduce the artists who settle here in great numbers, following in the footsteps of Van Gogh and the composer Charles Gounod.

Loop around Saint Remy de Provence (via Les BAUX de Provence)

Perched on its eagle’s nest, the wonderful fortified village of Les Baux de Provence gives itself impregnable airs. Explore its narrow cobbled streets and the remains of the castle and enjoy the charm of this corner of paradise as you listen to the old stones serenely recount their past glory. Les Baux is also home to the monumental Light Quarries (Carrières de Lumières).

The long option also takes us to Arles, a city of art and history, famous for its ancient remains from the Roman Empire.

Taillades to Gordes (Roussillon)

We penetrate the world famous Luberon valley and explore scenic roads and perched villages such as Oppède-le-Vieux, Ménerbes and Roussillon on our way to Gordes.

With its narrow streets, its intertwined houses brushed with ochre, competing in colour and harmony, its galleries where artists and potters exhibit their creations, the village of Roussillon is a constant delight.

Gordes, perched on its cliff, dominates the valleys and facies the Luberon. The village offers to the sun its cobbled streets where it is nice to get lost.

LOOP AROUND Gordes (via SENANQUE ABBEY)

Nestled in a small valley on the edge of lavender fields, the Abbey of Senanque is part of its environment, between stone and vegetation. It is one of the purest witnesses of early Cistercian architecture. Nowadays the places are still in use and even inhabited by Cistercian monks as a place of retreat.

The village of Fontaine de Vaucluse had the privilege of giving its name to the department (Vaucluse) which means the enclosed Valley, at the bottom of which mysteriously rises the Sorgue. An enchanting site.

Loop around Mazan (via THE DENTELLES DE MONTMIRAIL)

With magnificent views of the Mont Ventoux, this itinerary will take you to the Dentelles de Montmirail, Vaison-la-Romaine, Gigondas and other villages secretly nestled at the foot of cliffs.

The Dentelles de Montmirail, it is this region that gives the wines of the southern Côtes du Rhône their credentials, whose reputation has been exported throughout the world: Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Beaumes-de-Venise, Séguret.

Mont Ventoux (VIA Gorges de la Nesque)

Today is the opportunity to challenge the Mont Ventoux, also called “the giant of Provence”. It is here that the Tour de France wrote its legend, it is the mythical summit that every cyclist dreams of conquering.  You can decide to end your ride at the top or to ride the way back to the hotel along the Gorges de la Nesque to finish this incredible day. If you feel like Mont Ventoux will be for next time, we will skip the Ventoux and have a loop ride exploring the Gorges de la Nesque instead.

Mazan to Chateauneuf-du-Pape

This morning we will follow the Côtes du Rhône Wine Route for a brilliant finish with a wine tasting in the famous village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape to extend our pleasure. The popes of Avignon contributed to the development of the Chateauneuf vineyard, From the papal fortress, superb view over the whole way we have accomplished this week.

We will transfer you to Avignon in the afternoon and explore this city full of history and life. From medieval houses and alleys to Renaissance mansions, through all its beautiful and old squares, city of the popes, city of art and culture, the Capital of Provence, is a small town that has all the characteristics of a big one

Day off in avignon & pont du gard

This morning you can explore the historical center of Avignon, the Popes’ Palace and the Saint Benezet Bridge, listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

In the afternoon we drive you to a wonder of antiquity, the magnificent Pont du Gard, built in the 1st century in a superb setting, with a height of more than 40 m on three floors of arcades set back from each other.
