Day 1 : Welcome to the Scottish Highlands

We will meet you at the Inverness airport at a predetermined time before transferring you to your iconic hotel on the shores of Loch Torridon, home of our first two nights. In the afternoon, we will present the itinerary and adjust your bike setup before we enjoy our first moments of this Highlands bike tour.

Accomodation: The Torridon 5* – Wester Ross

This first loop ride from The Torridon takes you into the heart of Wester Ross, a wild region where Gaelic heritage can be felt in every valley. You will climb the legendary Bealach na Bà (Applecross pass), before descending toward the Applecross Peninsula with its breathtaking views of Skye and Raasay. The return follows the sparkling waters of Loch Torridon, passing countless photogenic places and the charming village of Shieldaig before arriving back at the hotel.

This bike ride from Loch Torridon takes you through some of the most dramatic landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. You traverse wild glens, skirt shimmering lochs, and pass through lush, unexpected pockets of greenery. Towering waterfalls and deep gorges punctuate the route, while sweeping mountain and coastal views create a truly immersive Highlands cycling experience. The ride concludes at the spectacular Falls of Measach, just before reaching the picturesque port town of Ullapool, with views across Loch Broom framed by the surrounding peaks.

This bike ride from Ullapool leads deep into the remote landscapes of Assynt and Coigach, among the most striking regions of the Scottish Highlands. Isolated peaks rise abruptly from a maze of lochs, creating an almost otherworldly scenery shaped by ancient geology and glaciers. The route follows quiet, winding roads through wild coastal terrain, passing remote settlements and the relaxed fishing harbour of Lochinver, before pushing further into an ever more dramatic and untamed landscape. The ride concludes at the Kylesku Hotel in a truly idyllic setting between water and mountains, offering a serene and well-earned haven at the end of the journey. This ride showcases some of the most scenic sections of the North Coast 500, enhanced with routes that few cyclists discover.

Accomodation: Kylesku Hotel – Kylesku

This cycling ride from Kylesku to Tongue follows the remote northern edge of the Scottish Highlands, through landscapes shaped by some of the oldest rock formations in Britain. The route crosses a mosaic of small lochs, open heather moorlands, and rugged mountains, before reaching the far North Coast near Durness, where dramatic cliffs overlook vast white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, including the stunning Balnakeil Beach, often ranked among the most beautiful beaches in Scotland. The journey continues through wide, open coastal scenery and concludes in Tongue, crossing a spectacular sea loch just before reaching the hotel, set in a peaceful and expansive Highland setting.

The final ride from Tongue sweeps you through the far northern Highlands, where wild coastline meets sparkling sea. Feel the thrill of the windswept cliffs at Dunnet Head, the northernmost point of mainland Britain, home to playful seabirds and basking seals, and enjoy a glimpse of the historic Mey Castle, once cherished by the Queen Mother. The adventure culminates at the legendary John O’Groats, with panoramic views toward the Orkney Islands and the famous “Journey’s End” signpost, a joyful and memorable finale to an extraordinary Highland cycling journey.
